Legion Ville from across the Ohio (present Aliquippa, Pennsylvania).

Close-up of Redoubt #2.  Graves of soldiers are to the left of redoubt.  Want to have your patriotism shaken to its core?  Try saving a site with seventeen military graves.  You'll find out America isn't all about Apple Pie and Chevrolet.  By the way Wright Pontiac of Wexford, Pa. plans to build a car lot here and nobody steps forth to help. Every year the Memorial Day Parade and Veteran's Day parades start at Legion Ville.  Do you think anyone thinks about these men?  Yes, the five guys from the Legion Ville Historical Society.  Only five you say?  The rest are deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Yes, soldiers die in all wars and sometimes our thanks is forgetting about them.

Barges in the Ohio River preparing to disembark on 30 April 1793.  Keelboat on left.  Red-white and blue barge is the Federal, Major General Anthony Wayne's personal barge.  The Legion of the United States took the barges out of the river in the winter thus saving the public the cost of building new ones which were usually crushed by ice.

The Model of Legion Ville based on USGS topographical maps and the 1793 letter of Dr. Joseph Strong to Mason Cogswell (Yale University) as well as a 1904 survey of the site by Civil Engineer J.P. Leaf (LVHS Archives).  The 1851 Harmony Society Map located at Old Economy Village in Ambridge, Pa. showed northern and southern streams.  Probably one of the best cartographically documented sites of this time in the country.  These can be seen at http://www.legionville.com/MAPS.htm
